The primary goal of this research program is to procure as much genetic diversity as possible within our germplasm collection. Genetically diverse germplasm provides one of the most valuable resources in a breeding program, as it provides genetic material which can be mined for sequences encoding useful traits. We utilize a few different methods to acquire a collection of genetically diverse germplasm and breeding lines.
We take advantage of this biological diversity by using the newest technologies in genetics and biotechnology to develop unique genetic backgrounds and elite lines that provide an invaluable resource to our growers and breeders alike.
